Eiffel Tower. Taken outside our hotel at 2:00am by my husband. Lights raced up and down the tower illuminating it in the most spectacular way.

Notre Dame—A Gothic masterpiece

Where Louis XIV was married.

Where Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of France.

Pope Alexander III laid the foundation stone in 1163.  It was finished in about 1345. 

 

 

 

 

 

Notre Dame – South Rose Window. 

During the French Revolution many of the sculptures and other treasures of the cathedral were destroyed. The stained glass windows survived because they were taken down piece by piece and hidden.

Yes, the real Mona Lisa (mounted behind glass). The crush of people who were trying to get close to this beautiful painting by Leonardo da Vinci was unbelievable. c.1503 - 1506  Oil on wood.
